Ampang PKR Youth chief remanded for five days

PUTRAJAYA: Ampang PKR Youth chief Datuk Adam Rosly has been remanded for five days for anti-graft authorities to investigate into his “unusual” wealth.

The 29-year-old Adam will be under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) custody until April 18 after Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman approved request for remand.

He is represented by lawyers Nik Zarith Nik Moustpha and Asyraf Othman.

Adam was detained at the MACC headquarters after giving his statement on Thursday.

The MACC is investigating the case under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.

Adam’s wealth came into attention after his political opponents questioned how he was able to afford his castle-style bungalow in Ampang at his age.

Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos, leader of the Red Shirts group, took pressmen to Adam’s house last year, claiming that it cost RM7mil.

However, Adam refuted this, saying he had bought the bungalow for RM1mil at an auction.

He also claimed that he had amassed his wealth through business ventures and inheritance from his family.

His Datukship from Pahang was due to his contributions to several projects in the state, he added.
