Iskandar: PAS will not exit Selangor

SHAH ALAM: PAS will not leave the Selangor state government unless it is instructed to do so.

“There are no instructions to get out of the state government, so we will just proceed,” state PAS chief Datuk Iskandar Samad (pic) said Friday.

A number of PAS divisions recently called for the party to sever ties with PKR.

Iskandar, however, said that Selangor PAS would wait for instructions from the party’s muktamar scheduled to be held in April.

“We will wait for instructions from the muktamar or the party headquarters.

“I will adhere to the party president’s instructions.

“The party has only one president and if the instructions come from anyone else trying to be the president, I will not accept it,” he said, adding that perhaps there were people in the party who assumed they were in charge.

Besides Iskandar, the Selangor government’s executive council line-up has two other Selangor PAS members – Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunos Hairy and Zaidy Talib.

On the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act or RUU355, Iskandar said PAS would continue as before.

“From the start it was a Private Member’s Bill, so we will just proceed with it.

“It is our initiative, so it is back to PAS to just proceed with it,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the Selangor state legislative assembly meeting.-thestar
