Police cripple Perak cow theft gang earning RM60,000 a month

BAGAN SERAI: Police here crippled a gang which specialised in stealing cattle with the arrest of its five members earlier this month.

The group included an ex-convict known as ‘Mat Juling’, aged 27.

Kerian district police chief, Supt Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob, said 11 cases of cattle rustling in Kerian district between June last year and early this month were solved with the arrest of the men, aged between 27 and 50.

“Their modus operandi was to use a blowpipe (with a tranquilizer dart) to sedate the cow before stealing it and putting it in a car to be sold,” he told reporters at the district police headquarters.

On interrogating the ex-convict, it was discovered that the group was earning RM60,000 a month from stealing and selling cows. – BERNAMA
