Ahmad Bashah: “I am not crazy for the MB post”

ALOR STAR: Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah will be resigning from his position as senator and Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Minister.

Bashah who will be sworn in as the new Kedah Menteri Besar tomorrow, said that he has submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister’s Office this morning.

The Bakar Bata assemblyman said he was “shocked” upon hearing confirmation of his appointment as new Menteri Besar to replace Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who resigned after losing majority support in the state legislative assembly.

Bashah, who had led a group of Kedah Umno leaders on Jan 20 declaring their loss of confidence in Mukhriz’s leadership, said he did it in the best interest of the state and not because he was eyeing the position.

“I am not crazy for the position as claimed by certain parties,” he said, adding it was the desire of Kedah Umno leaders for a change in the state leadership.

“As the Umno liaison committee deputy I had just voiced out the desire of the Kedah Umno leaders,” he said.-nst
