IPOH, Nov 9 (Bernama) — The Perak government is to give special attention to producing skilled manpower for both the domestic and foreign markets, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said today.

A major agenda in the Perak prosperity plan PAJ is for making knowledge a basis of development of the state, he added. . Several universities and colleges are setting up new branches or building additional campuses in Perak, he told reporters after chairing an executive council meeting here. He said the institutions include Universiti Teknologi Mara, which already has a campus in Iskandar. Its new campus is being developed over 400ha in Tapah and set to be its second biggest after the main campus in Shah Alam.

Zambry said the Segi College University will build its campus on 24ha in Taiping.

The Premier International University, which is building a campus at Gua Tempurung in Gopeng, may change its name to Perak International University, he added.– BERNAMA
