PETALING JAYA, Nov 26 (Bernama) — Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has received a total of 289 compaints related to the conduct of its polls for the 2010-2013 term, said its secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said with divisional elections having closed, there were 12 complaints that had yet to be settled while nine pertaining to the party”s polls for its central leadership were still being evaluated.

Only claims by Badrul Hisham Shaharin (Chegubard), a contender for the Youth chief post that PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had interfered in the polls for it, Saifuddin said Chegubard had been given clarification on the matter by the party leadership including Anwar and himself after PKR”s Supreme Council meeting on Wednesday.

The claims made by Chegubard had no basis, he told a press conference on the sidelines of PKR”s 7th annual congress here today.

On photographs published in newspapers today, which were sent by PKR members to show proof of irregularaties in the polls, Saifuddin claimed that the pictures were “confusing”.

He said a picture published in an English daily showing five individuals said to be election monitors was not correct as they weren”t.

He said the central leadership knew who all its 250 election monitors were.

However, he admitted that a picture carried in a news portal was indeed that of an election monitor but said that the person was only trying to help out not so literate voters to mark ballot papers.

He added that PKR”s central leadership so far had yet to receive complaints about election monitors interfering in the election process, which involves the direct voting method by members instead of the delegates system used by most political parties in the country.
