POLL RESULTS FOR PKR TOP LEADERSHIP NEXT WEEKEND

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Bernama) — The poll results for the posts of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president, vice-presidents, Youth chief and Wanita chief are expected to be announced at the end of the party”s national congress at Dewan Sivik, Petaling Jaya City Council, next weekend.

The winners for the 20 central leadership council posts, however, are expected to be known as early as tomorrow, according to sources.

As of Nov 14, vice-president Mohamed Azmin Ali remained ahead in the contest for the deputy presidency, polling 14,751 votes compared the votes obtained by another vice-president Mustaffa Kamil Ayub who garnered 3,401.

Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah, who is the daughter of PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, remained ahead in the contest for the vice-presidency with 11,042 votes compared to party strategist Tian Chua who garnered 9,524 votes, election director Fuziah Salleh (7,878) and Penang PKR chairman Mansor Othman (7,448).

In the contest for the 20 central leadership council posts, Wanita information chief Elizabeth Wong was ahead with 8,367 votes, followed by incumbent members Dr Badrul Amin Baharon (7,814) and Hee Loy Sian (6,694), membership director Datuk Johari Abdul (6,570) and another incumbent member Khalid Jaafar (6,406).

PKR-ELECTIONS 2 (LAST) KUALA LUMPUR

Incumbent Zuraida Kamaruddin led the race for the Wanita chief”s post with 4,510 votes while her challengers Dr Suraya Sudin and Animah Ferrar garnered 1,181 and 967 votes respectively.

For the Youth chief”s post, incumbent Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, who garnered 3,981 votes was slightly ahead of challenger Badrul Hisham Shaharin or better known as Chegubard, who polled 3,273 votes.

PKR members in 37 more divisions in Johor, Selangor, Sarawak and Sabah will cast their votes today, the final day for the PKR elections.

The PKR congress would start with the simultaneous opening of the Wanita and Youth assemblies by vice-president Dr Syed Husin Ali.

PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is schedule to deliver her keynote address on the second day.
