The Perak state government needs the support of all people irrespective of political backgrounds to realise the Perak Maju 2015 plan, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

He said the target to become a developed state by 2015 would be an indicator of success on the part of the state government in developing Perak.

“We only have four years to go before 2015. With a strong commitment, the vision is not something impossible to achieve,” he said in response to a query from Datuk Rosli Husin (BN-Trong) at the Perak state assembly meeting here Thursday.

However, he said, challenges with regard to poverty eradication and the state’s political landscape would need to be addressed towards achieving the development targets.

In another development, senior executive councillor Datuk Hamidah Osman said that the Opposition had lied in stating that an individual who participated in a demonstration at the entrance of the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building Wednesday had received treatment at the intensive care unit.

She said this after Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (PAS-Pasir Panjang) tabled a motion to adjourn the sitting to debate the arrest of 14 people during the demonstration which allegedly resulted in one of them being sent to the ICU due to police brutality.
