Guan Eng lodges report against Umno for articles on son

GEORGE TOWN (Oct 31, 2011): Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has lodged a police report against Umno for allegedly defaming him through several articles published on its website Umno-Online.

Lim’s special assistant Zairil Khir Johari lodged the report at the George Town district police headquarters today after Umno failed to retract and apologise for the articles on Lim’s under-aged son, over an alleged wrong-doing since mid-October.

“To date, there has been nine articles published in Umno-Online alleging that the CM’s son had molested a school girl,” Zairil said, adding there were other articles describing that Lim allegedly paid off the girl’s family RM200,000 to silence them.

“I hope the police will investigate the matter against this irresponsible party,” he told a press conference after making the report.

Zairil said the nine articles were offences under several acts, including the Penal Code, the Printing Presses and Publication Act 1984 and the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998.

“The police should take action against the website to clear the reputation of Lim and his family,” he added.
