Strong wind in Sabah to continue until Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR: Strong south-westerly winds in waters off Labuan, as well as in the West Coast and Kudat, Sabah, are expected to continue until Wednesday.

The Meteorological Department, in a statement, said the strong winds of between 40 and 50 kilometre per hour could cause rough seas with waves as high as 3.5 metres.

A similar weather condition is also expected in waters off Sulu and will be dangerous to small boats, sea sports and recreational activities, it said.

Meanwhile, thunderstorm in waters off Kudat is expected to continue until today and the condition could cause strong winds of up to 50 kilometres per hour and waves as high as 3.5 metres.

Strong south-westerly winds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour and high waves of up to 3.5 metres are also expected in Phuket, Condore, Reef North, Layang-Layang and Palawan until Wednesday.

The weather condition is dangerous to all shipping and activities, including fishing and ferry service.
