High on success: Sandakan police seize two cannabis plants

SANDAKAN: Following a raid on a warehouse at Jalan Lintas Sibuga here, police have made an unusual seizure of two cannabis plants, said to be the first of its kind here in the district.

Acting on a tip-off, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said police have been monitoring activities around the warehouse for the past few days before raiding the building at 1pm today.

“We discovered two cannabis plants. One was about 1.54-metre tall and another, 0.3-metre tall. The plants are estimated to be worth about RM 2,500.

“Police also seized a packet of dried cannabis leaves weighing 30g, a packet of fertilizer, a spotlight and a table lamp.”

The lights found are believed to have been used as artificial sunlight for the plants, he added.

Azhar said the seizure was the force’s first in recent years, adding he attributed the success of the raid to cooperation from members of the public.-nst
