PETALING JAYA: A motorist was killed early Thursday at the KL-Ipoh road when his car strayed into oncoming traffic and hit a lorry.

Hulu Selangor police chief Supt R. Supramaniam said the accident occurred at about 1.30am at KM39.

He said the driver of the car, identified as Ong Soon Hoi, 35, died at the scene. The lorry driver was not hurt.

“Investigations showed that the car driver, who was heading towards Ipoh, lost control and entered the opposite lane. The car then collided with an oncoming lorry,” he said.

The front of the car was destroyed as a result of the impact.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving resulting in death.-thestar
